In the maritime sector, crew health is critically important for both human life and operational continuity. IMO and ILO regulations require every individual working at sea to meet specific health standards. For ship agents in Turkey, arranging regular crew health screenings is not just a legal obligation but also an operational necessity. A crew member falling into an emergency at sea due to health issues can lead to route changes, port schedule disruptions, and costly evacuation operations. Our comprehensive health screening program coordinated by Marine Med Assistance includes: cardiovascular assessment, respiratory function tests, vision and hearing tests, laboratory analyses, psychological evaluation, and vaccination programs. Our capacity to coordinate rapid health screenings at Istanbul ports, particularly for vessels transiting the Turkish Straits, provides a significant advantage for ship agents. We minimize vessel waiting time while quickly assessing crew health status. P&I clubs also encourage regular health screenings. Proactive health management prevents medical emergencies at sea, protecting human life and reducing insurance costs. Our recommendation to ship agents: arrange comprehensive health screenings at every crew change, plan periodic check-ups every six months, and keep vaccination schedules up to date.
